Smoke And Mirrors

The view of women smoking today is constantly morphing into new generations. Like the carnival that warp your reflection, what you see is not what you get.

No matter what warnings are given, what health problems are recited, it is a habit and it is a very difficult habit to kick. It does not matter how many times someone tells you that it is not healthy. It doesn’t seem to matter that second hand smoke can harm spouses, children and friends. It doesn’t seem to matter that smoking can cause a huge variety of health problems ranging from bronchitis and emphysema to heart attacks and cancer. The plain fact is that the women that smoke have to want to quit.

Hypnosis can be tried, but tests show that it is more effective on men than women. The whole stop smoking industry has become over whelmed with products of every conceivable type. Gum, patches, pills, placebos and anything else you can throw into the hat. Smoking kills and quitting has been placed on the same plateau as trying to give up heroin. It is hard, but many women do it, some have the sheer will power to just stop. No help, no drugs. Many women are afraid of weight gain if they stop smoking; it is just an excuse the mind has come up with to continue getting the daily doses of tobacco.

Teenagers start and have no idea how to quit. They might say they can quit if they want to, the reality of it is, that once they are smoking 5-10 cigarettes a day, it is a habit and they are no longer in control. That is what smoking is, a loss of control. Any addiction is simply the inability to use better judgment. It is not an excuse, it does not help you relax, it does not help you deal with stress. It is what you do to react to those situations, your conditioned response to your daily life. So, you find reasons throughout the day to smoke. Until you get to the point where you don’t need excuses anymore, you are chain-smoking and not having a cigarette in your hand is the exception instead of the norm.

Make the choice, be in control and decide how you are going to live your life. You will enhance the quality of your life and lengthen your life the day you decide to quit. If you need help, get it, find what works best for you. Think of all the money you will save after you have quit! For yourself and your family, just get in control and make a choice.
