Turkey is a favorite recreational sport as well as a profession of a few people. Though, not everyone can go into a forest and hunt for Turkeys. The game license can be of different kinds which are : small game, big game, conservation legacy, sportsman, super sportsman, junior , nonresident super sportsman and nonresident hunting. Each of these licenses require a fee which is mandated by the state laws. Also for each kind of license there are residency rules imposed by the state. One person is allowed to have one Turkey permit in a year.
Now for getting a license for you will need to show that you have got the license earlier before. If you are a beginner then you will need to take a course for hunter education. Also, if you want to do bow then you will need to take another course in bow hunting.
The main season when Turkey is done is either spring or fall. Areas where Turkey is done are usually in the bottom lands, wooded areas and are away from the human habitat. The reason is simple because you need to have silence and stillness
while for the Turkey. The equipment that you can use while doing Turkey is bow or shotgun. What is the definition of a good rifle or shotgun you will ask ? A good shotgun is one which is specifically made for and can withstand years of rough use while hunting. Toughness is one factor that is of prime importance than a few others. That is why knowing what to look for in a shotgun is important so that you can make an informed decision.
You cannot use the rifles or handguns for Turkey hunting. The other requirements are that you cannot use bait for and dogs are only allowed during the fall season.
