Foreclosure - You Are Not Alone!
By laceykeener

In January 2008 there was another huge jump in filings. Across our Nation, filings for foreclosures sky rocketed 57 percent, causing thousands of homeowners to lose their homes to bank repossessions.

It is such a crime that we are living in the richest nation in the world and that a full-time job can no longer guarantee access to decent, affordable housing. Towns and cities are being hit hard by the current housing and lending crisis.

If you are experiencing yourself, just know that you are not alone. There are so many people experiencing this same situation. I know that this does not easy your situation but maybe it gives you a little comfort knowing that there are people out here who care and will lend an ear or give some advice. You have invested too much time, money and energy into your home to lose it to foreclosure! Acting now you might be able to avoid deficiency judgments, which can linger after foreclosures.

People do not like talking about foreclosure, especially if they themselves are going through it. However, you must remember that a lender may start proceedings if you fail to make a payment on the due date, even though they would prefer not to. incurs cost and sometimes loss for lenders. Sadly foreclosures are happening with increasing frequency all over the United States. In fact, it is almost a national epidemic.

As the number of foreclosures increase in the U.S. Housing Market, so does the opportunity for rescue scams. If you find yourself in the precarious position of facing an imminent proceeding you should be on the lookout for these scams. The worst thing you could do to yourself is to fall victim to a scam. How do I know if I am being scammed, you might ask. The purpose of this article is to paint a picture of how it might look if you were approached by a scammer.

What is a rescue scam?

The first thing you need to know about spotting a scam is to know what a scam is. A scam consists of a couple of things: you , your home, and someone approaching you either in person or via mail who wants to help you. This other person is someone who wants to offer their services to get you out of to save your home.

However, what can end up happening is that you can lose your equity if you have any to begin with. You can also end up paying a lot of money for no forwarding action that results in getting your situation cleared up. Another outcome might be that you totally lose your house to the person "helping" you and be forced to move out. And finally, you can end up with little or no time to really make a difference with your mortgage company once you find out that you have been scammed.

Do not ignore the situation and just hope that it will go away. Be prepared to seek advice, honestly take a look at the options available to you and try to prepare a plan for dealing with the situation. Try to be in control of the situation for as long as possible as this will give some help in dealing with all of the worry and family stress that the threat of brings.
